About us

The Fruit Tree Day Nursery is an emerging bright, warm and friendly day care nursery group situated in two south London locations – Camberwell green in Southwark and at the border of Lewisham & Bromley boroughs.

After 30 years of childcare experience at varying levels including pioneering award winning Youth & Child development initiatives in London and Kent, Doreen & David our directors decided to take their passion for nurturing the next generation to the next level, by opening a one-room nursery in the heart of Camberwell Green, Southwark drawing on all their experiences including the valuable  experience gained as young parents whilst raising their 5 children and supporting the development of their 4 grandchildren.

Fast forward three successful years and the nursery has grown substantially, now encompassing two locations totalling eight well equipped rooms of which two are pre-schools. The nursery group now provides exceptional care for up to 120 children, babies ranging from 3 months to 2 years and toddlers and preschoolers from 2 years to 5 years.

Both of the nursery sites are well-equipped for delivering the Early Years Foundation Stage Framework in stimulating and engaging ways. The Camberwell Green site has a large space that includes water features, patches for growing vegetables and fruit as well as a plethora of bright and interesting outdoor toys and equipment. Similarly the Northover Fruit Tree Day Nursery has 3 large gardens for outdoor education and play, including a mud-kitchen which is in development and a large wendy house . Our sites are fully central heated, with plenty of natural daylight and fresh air, plus a large fully-equipped kitchen for the preparation of healthy and nutritious meals and snacks on each site.

Our bright and spacious building at Northover has recently been fully refurbished to include new heating and electrical systems, as well as a redesign with a fresh, bright, new colour scheme. With the help of renowned educational furniture and nursery interior designers Community Playthings, the rooms have been designed and developed with exploration and play in mind, aiming to enhance the learning  experience.

Our nurseries are known for their vibrancy, nurturing family atmosphere. We also have a great schedule of events throughout the year, and most recently the graduation of our pre-school children complete with colourful gowns where we celebrated the graduation of 16 happy children who were excited to progress to Primary School. Many of the children graduating had been with us since birth, and it was a pleasure to see them onto the next stage of their lives. Our events and parent meetings harbour an inclusive environment where each child’s family is valued and made to feel part of the Fruit Tree Day Nursery community.

We at The Fruit Tree Day Nursery hope that you will join us, and we look forward to meeting you and your children in the very near future.
